Frequently asked questions

Which limit do I need for a UK visa?

It depends on the portal: 6 MB per file on UKVCAS, about 4 MB on TLScontact and 2 MB on VFS Global. Check the upload page of your own application, as limits change.

How does it reach a specific size?

It lowers the quality and resolution of the images in the PDF step by step until the file is under the limit, with a small safety margin.

What if it cannot get that small?

Text-only PDFs can barely be reduced. If the limit is not reached, the tool tells you the smallest size it achieved: then split the PDF into several parts.

What happens to my files?

They are sent encrypted, processed and discarded when the job is done. PDFya does not store or review them.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no added watermark. There is a limit of 20 MB per file and 30 operations per hour.
