Privacy policy
Last updated: 6 October 2026
This policy explains what data PDFya handles when you use the website, what for, for how long, and what rights you have. The basic idea is simple: PDFya needs your file for a few seconds to do what you ask, and nothing more.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is the owner of PDFya, the website available at pdfya.app. You can write to info@pdfya.app about anything related to your data.
If the files you upload contain personal data about other people, you decide what they are used for and PDFya acts only as a processor: it handles them solely to carry out the operation you request.
2. What data we handle
- Your files and their content. The documents and images you choose, and the results we generate from them.
- What you type into the tools. For example, the text of a watermark or the password of a PDF.
- Technical connection data. Your IP address and the usual data of any web request (browser, date and time).
- Whatever you send us by email if you write to us.
PDFya has no user accounts: we do not ask for your name, email or any registration data. We do not analyze or index the content of your files and we do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
3. What we use it for, and on what legal basis
- Providing the service (merging, converting, compressing, and so on). Legal basis: it is necessary to carry out the operation you request.
- Protecting the service against abuse, by limiting the number of operations per visitor. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping it available to everyone.
- Answering your enquiries. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in helping you.
- Complying with legal obligations when a competent authority requires it.
4. How long we keep it
- Files and results: only while the operation lasts, usually a few seconds. They are processed in the server's memory and discarded when it finishes. Converting from Word, Excel or PowerPoint requires a temporary copy on disk, which is deleted automatically at the end.
- Passwords and typed text: used for that operation and not stored.
- IP address for the usage limit: one hour at most, in memory.
- Emails you send us: for as long as needed to help you.
Thumbnails and previews are generated in your own browser and never leave your device.
5. Who it is shared with
We do not sell or hand over your data. To operate, PDFya relies on providers that handle data on our behalf and may keep technical access logs under their own policies:
- Cloudflare: serves the website, manages the domain and hosts the library that generates previews.
- Render: hosts the server where files are processed.
- Bunny Fonts: serves the website's typeface.
Some of these providers may handle data outside the European Economic Area. In that case the transfer relies on the safeguards provided by European law, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
We would only disclose data to other third parties if a law or a competent authority required us to.
6. Security
- All communication between your browser and PDFya is encrypted with HTTPS.
- Files are not stored, so there is no repository of documents that could leak.
- No system is infallible. If a document is especially sensitive, consider whether you want to handle it in an online service.
7. Cookies
PDFya uses no cookies of its own and no tracking tools. See the cookie policy for details.
8. Minors
PDFya is not aimed at children under 14. Children under that age should only use it with the permission and supervision of their parents or guardians.
9. Your rights
You can exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and portability by writing to info@pdfya.app. Because we do not keep your files or identify you, in most cases we will hold no data about you to hand over or delete, and we will tell you so.
If you believe we have not handled your request properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (www.aepd.es) or with your local data protection authority.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the way PDFya works or the applicable law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
This is a translation of the Spanish version. If the two differ, the Spanish version prevails.
